Penny is a long standing staff member in the Department of Landscape Architecture, working in student project supervision and a range of design studios in both the Bachelor and Diploma programmes, with a specialism in plants and planting design. She is recognised by the landscape industry by invitations to judge at Ellerslie Flower Show, and to be part of the accreditation panel for the Garden Design Society of NZ each year.
Penny's research interests are in the Urban Forest of Auckland, tree collections and online plant databases. These interests are currently contributing to design and landscape management projects for the Unitec Arboretum on the Mt Albert campus.
The profession of landscape architecture spans so many arenas for the new Auckland City. From residential gardens, to urban space, parks and green infrastructure, our graduates have a huge contribution to make to a full scale-range of urban living environments.
