Profile

Leon Tan (PhD) is an art and culture historian, critic, artist, educator, and registered psychotherapist. He researches and publishes in the areas of contemporary art, public art, globalization, digital culture and social activism. Leon is Academic and Research Leader in Creative Industries at the Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand. He serves as an advisor to artists and arts organizations and is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and the Auckland Council’s Advisory Panel on Art in Public Places.
