MDes (Distinction), BDes, CertHE
ProfileKim Meek has been teaching in the Bachelors degree programme since 2001 in the subject areas of Visual Art, Graphic Design and Contemporary Craft.
He completed his Masters in Design in 2007 with his project, 'Towards an Ornamental Ecology' that examined interactions and interrelationships in ornament through a lens fashioned from material ambiguity and entropic processes. In response to his research findings, Kim continues to develop a body of practice that responds to critical discourse in contemporary visual culture, with particular attention to the fragment, ready-mades and the phenomena of contemporary ruins.
Kim has been working more recently with Masters candidates, examining and developing effective studio discourse between theory and practice, as it pertains to the Visual and Applied Arts.
Current research activity is focused on preparation for doctoral study by project. Kim's most recent solo exhibition was 'Hoopla' held at Anna Miles Gallery in 2008. He recently was commissioned to produce an artwork for 'Enchanted Garden', curated by Mary Kisler and installed in Auckland Art Gallery over the duration of the summer programme 20082009.
