Sandra has led Interior Design both at CPIT and Unitec since 2005.She currently leads the Diploma in Applied Interior Design Programme within the Architecture pathway and teaches Year One Visual Communication courses,and Professional practice and Commercial Studio courses in Year Two.
Sandra is an active member of Unitec's Sustainability Strategy Team and on the NZQA MROQ Working Party for the National Diplomas in Interior Design currently in development.
Since 2009 she has actively engaged students in live external projects in order to give them the experience of collaborating with other professionals, and clients in order to develop strong interpersonal skills .In recent years Sandra has been involved in projects such as Te Whare o Parakai , a new Community Centre,Exhibtion design for the NZ Maritime Museum, St.Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Grey Lynn ,and currently several Projects for a new Social Learning Hub and staff workspaces for Unitec.
Her research interests are biophilic design and sustainable environments,design for innovative learning environments,workplace design,conceptualist landscape design and Psychotopia (how places are understood and experienced.)
Current research involves working with Unitec's Strategic Property Team to develop a set of Guidelines that define Activity based and Workspace design specific to Unitec's cultural values.
These research interests are born from her background in both Film & Television as Senior Production Designer for TVNZ,and as Director of Metamorphis Landscapes.
Sandra has won Gold,Silver and Bronze Awards for Exhibition design in the Outdoor Retail Garden category at Ellerslie International Flower Shows in 2002,2004 and 2006.
