The award is given for outstanding contributions to the ERME conferences by a committee of experts and Robyn’s was one of three papers chosen for an award from an international field of 64 researchers.
Robyn has a background in dance as well as mathematics, and is currently studying towards her Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Auckland.

Nicola drew on her family history with deep roots in west Auckland and across the oceans to Lebanon.
Nicola’s great-great grandparents, Najibie Tanyaus Ataya and Assid Abraham Corban immigrated to New Zealand in 1892 from Mount Lebanon, a small village near Beirut, and established a vineyard in West Auckland, which grew into the well-known Corban’s wine estate.

Conducted by Unitec’s School of Healthcare and Social Practices Senior Lecturers Dr Hoa Nguyen and David Kenkel, the study explored the lived experience of Tuvaluan undocumented immigrants and the impact of not having legal status, their hopes, and dreams as well as their coping mechanisms during desperate times.
