Shining a light on the shadows – life for Tuvaluan overstayers in New Zealand

Conducted by Unitec’s School of Healthcare and Social Practices Senior Lecturers Dr Hoa Nguyen and David Kenkel, the study explored the lived experience of Tuvaluan undocumented immigrants and the impact of not having legal status, their hopes, and dreams as well as their coping mechanisms during desperate times.

Survey Highlights State Violence and Treaty Breaches against Māori

4 February 2022
Data gathered shows large proportions of Māori continue to  experience the impact of multiple forms of violence from the State and its agencies. 
 
The survey was conducted as part of He Waka Eke Noa an MBIE funded Endeavour Research project led by Ngā Wai A Te Tūī, which is investigating the impact of violence on whānau and the importance of Māori led solutions.
