Important update connecting to Unitec’s WiFi networks
10pm Thursday 24th September, IT will be renewing Unitec’s WiFi network certificate. This is the digital certificate that authenticates your account and provides you with a secure connection to Unitec’s WiFi network.
This is a standard process that we have to do every year in order to ensure that your connection to our WiFi network remains secure. This applies to our eduroam, UNITEC-ELEARN, UNITEC-MANAGED networks.
How will this affect me?
Once we have applied the new certificate you may receive a pop-up message when you next attempt to connect to the WiFi network on your laptop or mobile device, which asks you to verify the new certificate.
This message will vary depending on which device you are using to connect. If you do receive the pop-up message, please click, continue, connect or trust, depending on your device, and you will connect to Unitec’s WiFi as normal.
If you experience any issues when connecting to the WiFi, please contact the IT Helpdesk.
Welcome to the Information Management Services support pages for Unitec students. This site provides students with an orientation to the IT systems and some helpful guides. If new to Unitec, we suggest you click on the Getting Started tab at the top of this page. There you will find help to access the computers and information systems at Unitec. More information can be found under the other tabs provided.

Don’t get locked out!
Juggling a million different passwords for various social media, email and site accounts at once can sometimes be quite tricky for some.
It can be especially frustrating if you can’t access important information at 1am when you’ve got an assignment due. No matter how hard you try to remember your password, you just can’t seem to crack the code.
There’s now a quick and fuss-free way that’ll save you the trouble and make sure your Unitec account (for example your Student Portal or Unitec email) is extra secure.
Here’s how not to get locked out:
- Go to http://aka.ms/ssprsetup
- Supply us with your mobile phone number, so that we can send you a verification TXT message of your password reset.
Now if you ever forget your password you can visit https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ to reset your password and get access to your account 24 hours a day 365 days a year!
More Information and a video guide can be found at Part 1 – Usernames and Passwords
If you’re still experiencing issues, you can contact our IT team itsupport@unitec.ac.nz or give us a call 0800 275 467.
