Aim: 
To develop knowledge and understanding of industry structures, Treaty of Waitangi//Tiriti o Waitangi implications, small business practices, and use of industry software in selected areas of technology.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Technology programme to enrol in this course. Pre-requisite: APTE5101 or equivalent. Restriction: APPT5111.
Topics include: 

INDICATIVE CONTENT Appropriate selection from following topics
Industry structures
In the context of a particular discipline ?? inputs, operations, outputs of an industry sector, principal companies and organisations, forces and drivers of the industry, past present and future trends
Te Treaty o Waitangi/Tiriti o Waitangi
Overview of Te Treaty o Waitangi and Tiriti o Waitangi as foundation for New Zealand resource, environment and sustainability management
Examples of interactions in an Industry sector
Business fundamentals
In the context of a small business, introduction to ? structures, business plans, sources of finance, costing, budgets, profit and loss, legal requirements
Industry software
In the context of a particular discipline ? introduction to purpose and skills of common industry software
For example ? CAD and modelling, circuit simulation, project management software
