Aim: 
To promote an understanding of the basic principles of animal behaviour and welfare as it applies to a range of animal species.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
 
Topics include: 

- Principles of behaviour
evolution of behaviour and natural selection, - Practical behaviour tutorials
what is animal observation? Designing an ethogram, observing animals, creating time budgets, and assessing animal needs,
- Human-animal interactions
human-animal bonds and ethical use of animals. Artificial selection and behaviour. Behavioural needs and ecological niche. Behavioural needs, welfare and enrichment.
- Principles of training
training methods, protocols and welfare. Behaviour and training in animal management. - Training and Management
critiquing training methods. Training companion animals.
