If you are an international student, it is important you only pay your tuition fees for Unitec Institute of Technology after receiving your Offer of Place (or after receiving your Approval in Principle Visa where applicable). Payment of your tuition fees indicates your acceptance of the offer into the programme of study.

The tuition fee payable is indicated on your Offer of Place letter and instructions on how to pay your tuition and other fees are also included. Your Offer of Place will detail your tuition fees, insurance and any other fee in New Zealand dollars per academic year.

Both new and returning students need to pay as soon as possible to allow time to apply for your new or returning student visa. Once Unitec has received your payment, the official Unitec Fee Payment receipt to you or your agent and Immigration New Zealand.

Pay your tuition fees by personal cheque for amounts under NZ$10,000 or bank cheque from a NZ bank for amounts over NZ$10,000. Please present the cheque to the cashier on campus or mail to:

Cost of living

To give you some idea of what funds you need while you're living in Auckland which are in addition to your tuition fees, some examples are given below:

  • Accommodation: NZ$8,000-10,000 per year
  • Books:               NZ$1,000
  • Miscellaneous:    NZ$4,000

So in total, you need to budget for NZ$15,000 per year as per the Immigration New Zealand student visa requirements. Use the XE currency calculator to work out the equivalent amounts.

Remember to bring your credit card and some New Zealand dollars in mixed denominations, for example $5, $10 and $20 notes. You will need to have you at least NZ$200 cash on you for your first week to cover taxis, food and other expenses.
