Architecture isn’t just about creating beautiful structures and spaces, it’s about how we shape our world by planning, designing and advising on the construction of smart, effective, sustainable and inspiring buildings.

Why Study Architecture at Unitec?

At Unitec we believe in applying your learning to the real world. Our undergraduate students take part in a large-scale design and fabrication for events like ArtWeek Auckland, FESTA and GradFest. Master of Architecture (Professional) students take part in research projects at architecture practices and complete work experience. If you’re interested in Māori architecture and technology, you’ll love Te Hononga, our Māori studio, where we combine traditional materials with new technologies.
You’ll have the opportunity to go on study tours or student exchange to England, the US, Germany, India, China, Italy or the Pacific Islands.
Unitec’s Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape Architecture courses not only focus on great design, but also architecture principals across disciplines, building performance and the act of construction. Courses are taught by established industry professionals from New Zealand and around the world.
Unitec is recognised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects, the New Zealand Registered Architects Board, the Commonwealth Association of Architects, New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture and the Design Institute of New Zealand.
