Unitec|Te Pūkenga automotive graduate Jae Kim has been awarded the bronze medal in the Hyundai National Technician Competition 2023, held in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland this week.
Jae was one of only six Hyundai technicians from throughout Aotearoa New Zealand to qualify to compete in the national final, with successful qualification an achievement in itself.

Arriving in New Zealand as a 17-year-old asylum seeker from Afghanistan, Asad faced some challenges settling into his new home. He first studied English language at the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) then the NZ Certificate in Carpentry (NZCC) at Unitec|Te Pūkenga.

The gallery supports and will profile the latest contemporary art and design projects by ākonga, kaimahi, and other artists and designers in Aotearoa New Zealand. The project space for research and creative practice is guided by the values of Te Noho Kotahitanga, and the gallery supports teaching and learning through an annual programme of activities including exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and postgraduate examinations.
