Aim: 
To provide students knowledge and analytical skills in industrial control systems.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Technology programme to enrol in this course. Pre-requisite: APTE6612.
Topics include: 

Transmission signals, control system principles, control system analysis and tuning methods, system identification and modelling
Range may include
Open loop, closed loop, feedback. set point, bias point, deviation, error, measured variable, controlled variable, damping, offset, plant dynamic characteristics, proportional control, integral control, derivative control
Controller tuning methods are described and applied to control systems, under varying load and set point conditions, Simple plant and control elements are identified Simple first order and second order systems are modelled
Range may include
differential equations and transform or operator techniques, saturation, dead-time4 Steady state errors for a control system calculations.
