To enable the student to develop an understanding of microprocessor and microcontroller architecture and interfacing requirements
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Technology programme to enrol in this course. Restriction: ETEC5413.
Topics include: 

Appropriate selection from following topics
Microcontroller hardware principles
typical microcontroller architecture, microcontroller on-board subsystems
Microcontroller hardware practice
Configuration of microcontroller on-board subsystems configured to perform simple industrial functions, interfacing to practical devices
Software development principles
Use of an IDE is to demonstrate practical software development methods for microcontrollers
Software development practice
writing of programs for a microcontroller, documentation of programs based on given specifications in accordance with industry practice
