Aim: 
To examine theories of development, in order to gain an understanding of human development across the lifespan and its applications to learning in early childhood contexts.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) programme to enrol in this course. Restriction: EDUC5013.

Working with children with special needs. Introducing individual development plans. Examining ideas about inclusion. Theories of Learning and Development; Maori Perspectives on Development. Nature/Nurture Debate. Children's Development. Social/ Moral Development. Adolescence. Adulthood. Late Adulthood. Death and Dying. Theories and models of Human development (eg
Sociocultural, Cognitive, Behavioural, Ecological). The role of the teacher.
