For students

The primary function of the ask I.M.S. Help Desk (extension 8484) is to provide a single point of contact for Unitec students and staff from all schools/departments. The Help Desk team will resolve, log, manage and co-ordinate all requests relating to our Information Technology services.

 

Information Technology will assist students with the following services:

  • Computer logins e.g. inactive accounts, forgotten passwords
  • Training: Computer Orientation and Long Documentation for PostGrad students
  • Access to network services off campus from the MyUnitec Portal
  • Access to Library databases from on-campus and off-campus
  • Moodle login problems
  • Unitec Student Email (Wairaka) support
  • Assistance connecting to our wireless network

 

The following services are NOT provided by ask I.M.S.:

  • Training in specialist software
  • Advice on the purchase of computer, software and consumables
  • Support for student owned computers and software
  • Microsoft software at discounted prices for students

 

Discounted Microsoft Software

Unitec students can now purchase Microsoft software at significantly discounted prices through the Student Select agreement. The software is available for purchase online at www.lapshop.co.nz. Laptops can also be purchased online at www.lapshop.co.nz.

This partnership has been endorsed by Microsoft to ensure licencing compliance while maintaining confidentiality for purchasers. All students with a current Student ID are able to purchase from this site.
