Communication Studies
Love events and being connected? Interested in PR? Always networking? Constantly adding new people to your ever-growing contact book? We do.
Study communication at Unitec and there’ll be lots of mixing and mingling throughout your studies. And not just with anyone – with some of the country’s top communicators and potential employers. At industry events. During industry internships. As you organise events or work on projects for real clients. At the end-of-year Grad Show. And in all our communication programmes – from event management to public relations and media studies, and from the certificate to the bachelors and masters degree.
PRINZ (Public Relations Institute of New Zealand), the Australian and NZ Communication Association, TCANZ (the Technical Communicators Association of New Zealand and MediaNZ are all on our speed dial. As are some of the country’s biggest companies. Like TVNZ, Westpac and Vodafone. And Oxfam, Amnesty International and Juice TV.
Department of Communication Studies graduates succeed because of these connections. The practical experience our students get doesn’t hurt either. It’s what helps them land positions in leading organisations, here and around the world. Such as Vodafone, MTV, Air New Zealand, the Auckland Council, Ogilvy Metro and World Vision. There’s even one at the BBC.
