We offer a range of general study skills workshops that are focused on the major tasks involved in successful learning.

Course-specific workshops

Workshops for groups of students who are studying the same subject can be arranged at your request. Just let us know what you require and we will design a suitable workshop for you.

Many students find it valuable to talk through their questions with a Te Puna Ako Learning Centre lecturer on a one-to-one basis.

Small group consultations

Groups of students working on similar problems often arrange to see a Te Puna Ako Learning Centre lecturer together.

Online resources

We have information and study resources on the Blackboard Learning System.

Who uses our services?

Students from all programmes, from certificate right through to postgraduate level, come to Te Puna Ako Learning Centre. If you are studying at our North Shore campus, you are welcome to use the services at either Mt Albert or Waitakere.

Postgraduate students

We offer a range of workshops specifically designed for postgraduate students, and can also arrange individual consultations for you.

Māori students

Māori students may choose to go to Maia Māori Development Centre, but are also welcome at Te Puna Ako Learning Centre.

Pacific students

Our Pacific tutors look forward to meeting you. They offer group sessions, one-on-one consultations and drop-in sessions to help you succeed in your studies.

Unitec staff

We also work with Unitec staff who are studying themselves or who would like to get feedback on their writing for publication.

Students with English as an additional language

If English is not your first language, or if you are studying in New Zealand for the first time, we have specialist staff who can assist you. If you are studying for a certificate or diploma programme in English as an additional language (EAL), the Language Learning Centre in the library provides an additional support service to help meet your needs.
