CoDIA is the central hub of research at Unitec's Department of Design and Visual Arts facilitating knowledge exchange internally and externally.

Unitec Department of Design and Visual Arts is committed to encouraging and supporting our students, graduates and New Zealand’s design industry. With this in mind we have established a number of design initiatives from business incubators and applied research projects to consultancy services and international design exchanges. CoDIA is their hub, providing strategic focus, knowledge transfer and a central point of contact.

CoDIA initiatives include:

  • The Generator- Design business incubator for Unitec graduates that assists them to become established and sustainable
  • Hothouse - Initiative bringing Unitec Design students and Businesses together to develop new services and products
  • Mobile Web 2.0 - Facilitating social constructivist and authentic learning experiences.
  • SHAC09 - The Sustainable Habitat Challenge (SHAC 09) is a national collaborative project for teams around New Zealand to design, develop, and build sustainable housing in their local community.

CoDIA enables know-how and good practice to be developed and shared and gives our students their greatest chance of success.
