Student Ambassadors

What does a Student Ambassador do?

Unitec employs current students to assist the Marketing and Communications team and other departments with marketing, recruitment and promotional activities.

Student ambassadors help with Career Expos, Info Evenings, campus tours, secondary school visits, general events and administration duties. They're also encouraged to share their experiences as a Unitec student with secondary students, parents and caregivers.

How much are they paid?

The hourly rate is approximately $15 per hour before tax (includes 8% holiday pay).

Ideal attributes of a Student Ambassador

We're looking for students who are:

  • good communicators that can relate to a wide range of people
  • reliable and responsible
  • enthusiastic and show initiative
  • well-presented
  • fun
  • work well by themselves and in a team
  • achieve well academically by passing all courses.

Time Commitment

This position is on a part-time, casual basis. As a result, Student Ambassadors can fit any work around their study and other commitments.

Job Training

We work with Student Ambassadors to develop their promotional and communication skills, and there will be briefing sessions before all major events. Students receive a training manual, with all necessary information to prepare the team for the variety of work they may encounter.

Who does the team report to?

Unitec's Marketing and Communications team.
