Profile

Katie lectures in sport management as well as serving as a Programme Leader in Unitec's Department of Sport. She joined Unitec in July 2010 upon completion of her PhD in sport management at The Ohio State University, where she specialised in sport nostalgia. She continues to research new areas of sport consumer behaviour and teaching and learning.

She arrived at Unitec with a wealth of supplementary education and sporting experience, including a graduate teaching assistantship in sport management, a graduate assistantship overseeing several collegiate intramural sports teams and student employees, captaining the varsity synchronised swimming team, securing four collegiate synchronised swimming national championships, as well as serving as a voluntary varsity coach and team manager.

Outside of Unitec, Katie puts her tramping and camping gear to good use as she explores New Zealand. When she finds herself indoors, she spends much time refining her culinary skills.
