Tulī Takes Flight Scholarships
The purpose of the Tuli scholarship is to acknowledge the ongoing importance of education for Aotearoa Pacific families and communities. The scholarship is intended to support Pacific people to reach their potential by reducing some financial barriers to study or training. There are scholarships for vocational and degree-level study and training in Aotearoa.

Eligibility
To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be
- of Pacific descent
- a domestic student, i.e. a New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident
- have lived in New Zealand for the last three years at the time of the closing date of the application
- you must be accepted into the course of study, for the scholarship you are applying for before the course starts
There are 2 types of Tuli Takes Flight scholarships:
- Tuli Takes Flight: Career changer Scholarships
- Tuli Takes Flight: Continuing study or training scholarships
What Tulī Takes Flight: Career changer scholarships cover
There are 7 scholarships worth $31,500 each year:
- 3 vocational scholarships for study at NZQA levels 4 to 7

4 academic degree and above scholarships for study at NZQA levels 7 to 9
What Tulī Takes Flight: Continuing study or training scholarships cover:
Vocational scholarships
For study at NZQA levels 4 to 7:
2 scholarships of $11,500 each year
2 scholarships of $16,500 each year.
We particularly want to encourage Pacific peoples considering vocational training, or who are already undertaking it, to apply for these scholarships.
Academic scholarships
For study at NZQA levels 7 to 10 (degree level and above):
2 undergraduate scholarships - $11,500 each year
2 postgraduate scholarships - $16,500 each year.
The Pacific Education Foundation board can re-allocate scholarship numbers depending on the number of applications.
