This practical hands-on short course is designed for students who have completed the Manual Metal Arc Welding (Introduction) course, or those who have prior experience in basic arc welding.
Topics covered on this short course include:
- Operation of arc welding machinery
- Material preparation
- Electrode terminology
- Down-hand in heavy material
- Safety precautions and practice.
Minimum Enrolment Number
If the minimum number of students to be enrolled is not reached, then Unitec reserves the right to cancel the class. Should this occur, you will be notified ahead of closure. Before you make any travel or accomodation arrangements, we recommed that you first check that your course is running. Note that this course may be taught in conjunction with TTECS065 (dependent on numbers).

Note: You may need to attach a certified true copy of your passport (and/or permanent residence permit) or NZ birth certificate with your application. This can be certified as a true copy by a solicitor, or Justice of the Peace. Alternatively, bring original documents to Student Central at Unitec to any one of the three locations indicated on the Short Course application form.
