Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS)

Overview

This course offers practical skills assessment required for Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) class of Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) registration. The course includes (an approved First aid course) and offers preparation for the theory exam required for this class of registration.
Electrical Appliance Serviceperson (EAS) work ranges from repairing a household appliance to maintaining gaming machines. The workers with EAS class are also permitted to disconnect these appliances from permanent connection units.

This course is for

Electrical workers who need to be assessed in a number of practical skills, revise the theory and complete First aid course,  as set out by the EWRB as a partial requirement for Electrical Appliance Serviceperson class of registration.

The outcome of this course

Upon successful completion, Unitec will submit your practical assessment record to EWRB and confirm your eligibility to sit an examination to the EWRB examination provider, ASPEQ.

• Electrical Appliance Servicepersons(S185):  Domestic $ 1,141.48, International $1,229.69

Note:

• The above fee is inclusive of 15% GST and Student Services fee but does not include the EWRB/ASPEQ exam fee.

Please ensure you have and completed the following;

• Certified ID document (Certified by a NZ JP, or can bring the originals into Unitec Student Central)
• Completed, signed, and dated EWRB practical assessment form
• EWRB number 
• Payment of fees to be completed to be successfully enrolled 

Minimum Enrolment Number

11 students

Unitec reserves the right to cancel this class when the minimum enrolled number is not met. Should this occur, you will be notified before the intake closure.  Please check if your class is running, before you make any travel arrangements.

Maximum Enrolment Number

Unitec holds the right to stop the enrolment when the number of students enrolled in EWRB short courses reaches the capacity of the assigned Trades building laboratory.

List of tools and PPE gear required for the course

To attend the course, you must have required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) gear, which includes electrical safety (capped) footwear and safety glasses. We recommend that you bring your toolbox, which must include (but not limited to):

• Tester
• Wire strippers
• Phillips screwdrivers
• Flat blade screwdrivers
• Diagonal (Side) cutters
• Electrician’s pliers
