Can you imagine life without the internet? Us neither.

But as data, applications and computing infrastructure become ever more mobile and innovative, so do cyber attackers and their viruses. That’s why cybersecurity is so vital.

In the new issue of Advance, available online now, we showcase Unitec’s achievements in cybersecurity research and development over the past seven years – done in close collaboration with academia, industry, society and government agencies, of course. The stories cover topics such as:

  • Unitec’s role in the multi-million-dollar STRATUS project;
  • cyber-risk education through a research-voucher collaboration;
  • how Unitec’s new computer science curriculum is responding to an ever-changing industry;
  • the future of cybersecurity as predicted by industry experts, and much more.

“At the core of Unitec’s contributions to society is the commitment to engage as a partner in teaching, research, learning and innovation. Together, we are in an excellent position to contribute to the future of cybersecurity, and make the internet more resilient and secure,” says Advance guest editor Professor Christian Probst, director of the High Tech Transdisciplinary Research Network.

That’s all from us for 2018 – have a safe and happy holiday season, and we’ll see you in 2019!
