Nearly 2000 graduates celebrate in Unitec’s 50th year
Auckland’s Aotea Centre became a stage of pride and celebration this week as Unitec Graduation 2026 honoured nearly 2,000 graduates, with 1,443 crossing the stage over five ceremonies on 31 March and 1 April.
Kahurangi celebration honours Māori Excellence, Whānau and Future Leadership
Māori graduands, alongside their whānau, gathered at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae in Mt Albert on Sunday for the Kahurangi Māori Graduation—an event that celebrated achievement, identity, and the collective strength of community.
The attendees included senior leaders, heads of schools, lecturers and support staff, filled wharenui, Ngākau Māhaki, for the ceremony.

Student councils merging to create one, strong voice
MIT Student Council and Unitec Student Council will merge to create a single voice for ākonga across Tāmaki Makaurau – Auckland. The election of the first unified student council is expected to take place in October 2026 for the 2027 academic year.
