The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test assesses your English language ability in the four key areas of listening, reading, writing and speaking. You get a score for your overall ability as well as individual scores for each area. Scores range from Band 1 (non-user) to Band 9 (expert user).
IELTS is the world’s most popular English language test and meets international standards of language assessment. It's accepted by lots of professional organisations around the world including the New Zealand Immigration Service and the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. It’s also recognised by most New Zealand, Australian, British and Canadian academic institutions. You can check the full list of oragnisations that recognise IELTS on the website www.ielts.org.
Unitec has an award-winning IELTS Test Centre right here on campus. We offer tests at least twice a month and the results are available after 13 calendar days. To take the IELTS test, you need to choose either the Academic or General Training module.
You can prepare for the IELTS test with an IELTS Preparation short course which run regularly throughout the year. The course includes an overview of the test and a review of the language and vocabulary skills you will need.

IELTS Test Centre
Unitec has an award-winning IELTS Test Centre at Mt Albert campus. We offer tests at least twice a month and the results are available after 13 calendar days. To take the IELTS test, you need to choose either the Academic or General Training module. Check with Unitec if you’re not sure which module you should take.
