We’re home to New Zealand’s first Cybersecurity Research Centre. In collaboration with Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), it’s an example of cutting-edge technology being developed right here on-campus.
You’ll learn from passionate and knowledgeable lecturers. Our instructors are members of relevant industry organisations and have published in international journals. Some work as consultants to the IT industry and quite a few are involved in applied research from high-speed networks and data mining to internet security and robotics.

AIoT Impact Lab
The AIoT Impact Lab at our Unitec Mt Albert campus is a research and innovation hub dedicated to harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to address real-world challenges. It empowers researchers, students, and industry partners to develop transformative AIoT solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As a collaborative platform, the lab engages students in cutting-edge research, industry partnerships, and hands-on learning experiences. It seeks to foster sustainability, economic growth, and technological advancement in New Zealand and beyond by integrating AI and IoT technologies.
For students, the AIoT Impact Lab provides hands-on learning through industry research projects, internships, and capstone opportunities.
