Toi o Wairaka invites proposals for its 2026 programme, welcoming contributions from artists, designers, researchers, and creative practitioners. Proposals may include solo or group exhibitions, workshops, performances, seminars, publications, and other experimental or interdisciplinary projects.
- Decisions made on proposals by the Toi o Wairaka Committee are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Your application must provide the information requested above and may include a portfolio of indicative images of the proposed exhibition/event (max 4 pages, 5 MB);
- Gallery exhibitions are primarily for post graduate students, alumni, staff, community and stakeholders of Unitec Institute of Technology;
- Applicants can request 2 – 4 weeks exhibition duration. Projects of shorter or longer duration will be considered in exceptional circumstances;
- Installation is typically on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and openings on Thursdays, de-installation on Friday (there is some flexibility in negotiation with the curator);
- Exhibiting artists are responsible for assisting in the minding of the exhibition during opening hours should this be required;
- While some support is provided by the gallery team, exhibiting artists are expected to conduct themselves professionally, be ‘self-responsible’ and operate within our Health and Safety requirements;
- In all cases the galleries are to be left in the original state exhibiting artists found them in. Wall and floor colours cannot be changed, screw holes need to be filled, and walls touched up (sandpaper, paint, filler provided);
