Every year Tūāpapa Rangahau – Partnering Research & Enterprise hosts the Unitec Research Symposium! We would love for you to join us this year for what we feel will be an extra special event for the Unitec community!

The Unitec Research Symposium aims to showcase the best of Unitec’s staff and student research, drawing contributions from a diverse range of disciplines. Aimed at an internal audience this event will feature a mixture of sessions designed to inform, inspire, challenge, and entertain.

Dion Sheppard

Forensic Research & Development Programme Manager at the Institute of Environmental Science & Research, Ltd (ESR), New Zealand.

ESR is the NZ government’s Crown Research Institute specialising in science relating to people and communities.

ESR is the sole forensic science provider to the New Zealand Police, provides forensic services for other Government agencies including Customs and Defence, and undertakes work for other parties including lawyers, commercial companies and private individuals.

Dion manages ESR’s diverse forensic science research portfolio, and network of research partnerships.  The research ranges from short term internship projects through to multi-year international research collaborations, and is funded through allocated and contestable government Strategic Science Investment funding as well as international research funds.
