Advanced Research (HSDV7340)

This course provides students an opportunity to engage in designing and conducting an aspect of a negotiated research/study project relevant to the student’s discipline/context.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Pre-requisite: Successful completion of a minimum of 45 credits at Level 6.
Topics include: 

Historical and philosophical underpinnings of research, Methodology (qualitative, quantitative, mixed, participatory action research, Maori/indigenous, disciplinary and transdisciplinary),
Methods (interview, focus group, case study, questionnaire, survey, card sort, observational),
experimental design; Models of research; Research praxis; Interview process; Research analysis (thematic, semiotic, dyadic, statistical); Tools of analysis (analysis software - eg, Excel, SPSS, NVivo).
