Business is affected on the worldwide stage and needs modern thinkers to plan and strategize ways to stay ahead of trends and work on solutions. It is for these reasons that Unitec has designed the Master of Business programme to teach structure and strategy as well as critical analysis skills.
In this Masters programme you'll explore key aspects of business and management, such as marketing, strategic management, human resource management, and organisational theory and behaviour. The Master of Business provides the capacity for specialization, with an academic and theoretical framework designed to help you become an expert in the field you choose. This allows for graduates to apply for more specialized roles upon completion of the programme.

For this programme, you will need the following:
1. A recognised Bachelor’s degree in the same or similar discipline, with a minimum of one year appropriate work experience; OR
2. A recognised Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of appropriate work experience.
3. Demonstrate an ability to succeed in the programme by providing:
- Recommendations from employers or professional colleagues; and
- Evidence of outcomes in the discipline work environment.
4. Able to contribute to group learning outside of class time.
5. 8 credits at NCEA Level 2 in English (4 in reading, 4 in writing).
6. If English is your second language, you will need one or more of the following:
- Have achieved NCEA Level 3 and New Zealand University entrance
- Be able to provide evidence you satisfy our criteria for existing English proficiency
- Have achieved at least one English proficiency outcome in the last two years

|Business and Organisational Strategy (APMG8099)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||This course of study provides students with an enhanced capability to analyse the impacts of the global business environment on the development and implementation of strategy by small and medium business enterprises. It aims to develop the capabilities necessary for those small to medium business organisations to successfully compete in the contemporary business environment.|
|Organisations and Leadership (APMG8100)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||This course of study enables students to develop a critical view of organisations and their structure and functioning as well as the management of people in organisational contexts. It aims to develop generic capabilities for leadership in business contexts.|
|Research Methods (COMM8177)||30.0 credits (0.25 EFTS)||The aim of this course is to provide students with an advanced understanding of the theoretical, methodological, and empirical elements of social science research, in order that they may design, implement, and analyse research projects in a variety of contexts.|

|Marketing Strategy (APMG8117)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||This course of study provides students with an enhanced capability to examine advanced marketing theory and practice within eight core contexts; consumer, business to business, services, anti-consumption, sustainability, Maori and the Pacific, technology mediated, and socially mediated. Students will critically examine the proposition that to strategically understand and apply marketing, they should have a holistic perspective that envelops the eight core contexts.|
|Digital Enterprise (APMG8119)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||This course of study provides students with an enhanced capability to examine based on theory and practice, the digital enterprise and contemporary issues within five core contexts; consumer markets, business and enterprise modelling, society, community/social media and technology. Students will critically examine the proposition that to strategically understand and develop the digital enterprise they should have a holistic perspective that envelops the five core contexts.|
|Communicating in Organisations (COMM8171)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||The course equips students with - Understanding of theories relevant to managing interpersonal, collaborative and organisational communication, and - The ability to develop, plan and execute communication strategy that will achieve a positive organisational communication culture and climate, that in turn create the platform for engagement, organisational advocacy and reputation. |Intercultural Issues in Communication (COMM8173)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||To develop a critical understanding of contemporary intercultural communication theory and the ability to carry out applied intercultural communication research.|
|Strategic Communication and Information Management (COMM8176)||30 credits (0.25 EFTS)||COMM 8176 Strategic Communication aims to develop sound knowledge and competencies of the theories relevant to strategic communication and information management within globalised organisational settings: examine and evaluate processes for managing strategic communication and information management processes; develop communication and information management strategies which may be integrated into the corporate strategic plan.|
