Aptroot &amp; L\u00fccking (Trypetheliaceae) in the lichenised mycobiota of Aotearoa \/ New Zealand is documented. Furthermore, the lichen described as <em>Trypethelium bicolor <\/em>var. <em>pyrenuloides <\/em>C.Knight in 1884 and treated as <em>Trypethelium phlyctaena <\/em>F\u00e9e in the 1985 edition, as <em>Trypethelium variolosum <\/em>Ach. [\u2261 <em>Astrothelium variolosum <\/em>(Ach.) M\u00fcll.Arg.] in the 2007 edition of the <em>Flora of New Zealand lichens <\/em>(Galloway 2007), and in 2016 as <em>Astrothelium phlyctaena <\/em>(F\u00e9e) Aptroot &amp; L\u00fccking, is here treated as a heterotypic synonym of <em>Astrothelium nigratum<\/em>. This action removes <em>Astrothelium <\/em>\/ <em>Trypethelium phlyctaena <\/em>and <em>Astrothelium <\/em>\/ <em>Trypethelium variolosum <\/em>from the lichenised mycobiota of Aotearoa \/ New Zealand. <em>Astrothelium nigratum <\/em>is a widespread, common, though under-collected, lichen of mature forest known from a range of locations in Te Ika-a-M\u0101ui \/ North Island and from at least one location in the northwestern portion of Te Waipounamu \/ South Island. We assess <em>Astrothelium nigratum <\/em>as \u2018Not Threatened\u2019 using the New Zealand Threat Classification System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cite as<\/strong><br>de Lange, P.J., Marshall, A.J., Aptroot, A. &amp; Blanchon, D.J.
