Aim: 
This course aims to provide the student with both broadly contextual and specialist knowledge that will enable insightful and competent practice within an applied arts context. Practical outcomes will provide an opportunity for students to extend and broaden their understanding of concepts, issues, and material concerns associated with professional art practice.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Creative Enterprise programme to enrol in this course.
Topics include: 

Topics may include but are not limited to
Discussions of the contemporary contexts - political, economic, social, and environmental - that impact upon the circumstances of contemporary visual art practice
Drawing methodologies
developing the use of drawing as a method of critical analysis as well as a means of communication Ethics of representation and of interpretation
Bi-culturalism, multi-culturalism, cross-culturalism Selective use of imagery
drawing upon personal, contemporary, and historic sources Principles of two-dimensional composition
scale, colour, tonality, form and image, media and materials
Contemporary Art practice-based methodologies Introduction to processes and technologies (tactile and digital) Introduction to aesthetics and genre Image, form, object, space, time
Multi-disciplinary practices Introduction to presentation, documentation and communication----- Introduction to critical analysis in visual research
