Postgraduate counselling study at Unitec will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work in a diverse range of environments, particularly here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Explore collaborative counselling approaches, find out about power relations, consider how historical, cultural and social contexts shape people’s lives, and put your training into action supporting real clients make a change towards positive wellbeing.
You’ll be guided through the programme by passionate staff with years of experience, many of who are active in their communities which means that what you’ll learn reflects the real challenges you’ll experience in practice.

Our programme, Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling is no longer available for enrolment. If you have already applied for 2018, we will contact you.
A new postgraduate programme is currently under development for 2019 delivery.

We have strong links with the West Auckland community and industry organisations. We are members of the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers, the Social Workers Registration Board, and the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
We also work closely with community organisations around New Zealand and the Pacific. Organisations like te Waipuna Puawai, Safer Homes in New Zealand Everyday, the Problem Gambling Foundation and the New Zealand Federation of Voluntary Welfare Organisations have helped us develop our programme.
