Master of Design graduate, Stephen Ellis, has received widespread acclaim for his art.
In 2014, he received the Jury Award and People’s Choice at The Wallace Art Awards, the Supreme Award in the NZ Painting and Printmaking Award, and the Judge’s Mention in the Parkin Drawing Prize. In 2015, he won the Glaistor Ennor Graduate Art Awards, which included entries from AUT, Whitecliffe, Unitec and ELAM. Stephen received the $5,000 prize as well as a contract for a solo exhibition at Sanderson Contemporary in 2016, where he is now represented.
When asked about his Masters, Steven is often quoted as saying that "the discipline and focus of my Masters experience led to a much more resolved and visible practice, some awards success and dealer representation; a career trajectory that has surpassed all my expectations."
