The Storytellers Club (27th - 29th April, 10am - 3.30pm)
Storytellers is a new and exclusive School Holiday Workshop that we're taking out to the community.
The Storytellers club is a 3-day workshop for young people to tell stories through different forms of expression. Show up with the expectation to experience a little bit of film, acting and dance, and the desire to create in collaboration. You’ll be taught by leading experts and will gain knowledge of what it’s like to be a creative in a diverse industry.
Sima Urale (Film)
Sima Urale is a New Zealand filmmaker who has won national and international awards. Her films explore social and political issues and have been screened worldwide. She is one of the few Polynesian film directors in the world with more than 15 years in the industry.
Aloalii Tapu (Dance)
Aloalii is an Artist and Dancer. He frequently works in Berlin, Germany and Auckland, New Zealand. He is passionate about the character development of young people, and has previously worked as a mentor and academic coach in South Auckland. Aloalii holds a Bachelor Degree in Contemporary Dance from Unitec, New Zealand.
David van Horne (Acting)
David van Horne is a New Zealand Actor. He's had extensive experience in the industry, appearing in a number of film, television and theatre productions, and comes with a wide range of skills and knowledge to share.
We're partnering with Rānui 135 and taking it to the community. The team will be involved throughout the 3-days.
Age: preference of 15 - 19-year-olds
Cost: the workshop is free, but in keeping with the kaupapa of our School Holiday Workshops, we would love a koha of a can of food or non perishable food item. All proceeds go to people in hardship.
