Ka Rewa: Māori Innovation Symposium

The Ka Rewa: Māori Innovation Symposium is an opportunity to learn more about each other and creates the potential for new partnerships between Māori and the ITP sector.

The purpose of this year’s symposium is to connect Māori innovation stories with students and staff in applied tertiary education.

This includes:

  • Innovation by Māori or partnerships with Māori for Māori
  • Innovation that engages with the Māori economy and related social and economic activity

The symposium will be divided into three streams:

  • Whai Rawa: Māori Economies
  • Te Tai Ao: The Natural Environment
  • Mauri Ora: Human Flourishing

What we hope to achieve with this year's Symposium:

  • Nurture innovation in Māori students at tertiary level
  • Demonstrate to ITP sector leadership, the opportunity that the Māori innovation economy represents
  • Incorporate Māori innovation stories into ITP teaching, learning and research contexts
  • Demonstrate useful partners for Māori business and social innovators, in the ITP sector for R&D, new talent pipeline and knowledge transfer
  • Build partnerships between Māori innovators and the New Zealand ITPs
