Artweek's premier event, Glow, is coming up in October, and we're getting ready.
Join us in October at Artweek Auckland's premier event, Glow. Our second year Bachelor of Architectural Studies students will be showcasing their talents by transforming Devonport’s Windsor Reserve into an outdoor gallery of interactive light installations as part of Auckland Artweek.
The students, under the guidance of Architecture lecturer, David Chaplin, and the second year Design Studio tutors, are working to a zero waste, zero budget brief. By using sustainably resourced materials, they aim to create nine different light installations. The work forms part of their end-of-year assessment, and students will be judged on creative thinking, design, curation, installation, collaborative working and sustainability.
Unitec will partner with Vector to power the installations, using two Nissan Leaf Gen2 electric vehicles and its vehicle-to-home (V2H) technology. We'll also be working closely with local host, the Devonport Business Association, which will stage a Friday After Five festival in the village around GLOW@Artweek; featuring food trucks, live music, art activations and family entertainment.
