Now entire industries are embracing agile and lean \u2014 with impressive results to match, in terms of efficiency and responsiveness.<\/p>\n<p>At its core, Agile is all about innovation. It\u2019s about dealing with uncertainty through incremental work delivered by self-organised and motivated teams that are capable to adapt and respond to change.\u00a0<em>Agile<\/em> concepts were developed to increase productivity by working on smaller collaborative projects with more flexible schedules. <em>Lean<\/em> production practices aim to use fewer resources, minimise waste and maximise customer value.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3197 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unitec.ac.nz\/UnitecResearchBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/David-Parsons-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unitec.ac.nz\/UnitecResearchBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/David-Parsons-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.unitec.ac.nz\/UnitecResearchBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/David-Parsons-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.unitec.ac.nz\/UnitecResearchBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/David-Parsons-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.unitec.ac.nz\/UnitecResearchBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/David-Parsons-1-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.unitec.ac.nz\/UnitecResearchBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/David-Parsons-1.jpg 1100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Leading the Postgraduate Certificate in Digital and Collaborative Learning at <a href=\"https:\/\/themindlab.com\/\">The Mind Lab <\/a>David Parsons says he was motivated to make this book happen by seeing how agile methods were being applied in one of the class sessions that he observed at the specialist education provider:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs someone with extensive experience of agile methods in the software industry, I was fascinated by the ways in which some innovative practitioners were using agile and lean ideas in the classroom. What I discovered was that while there were many people working in this area, including teachers, practitioners and academics, there was no publication available that drew all these ideas together for a broader audience.
