<\/span>Generating Map Elements in ArcMap<\/span><\/h6>\n

In this exercise, previously prepared layers including political boundaries, roads, georeferenced imagery and standard map elements are formatted for effective map layouts. The overlaying of different pieces of information provides a visualization of spatial relationships between the layers and is one of the most important advantages of GIS.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Open the ArcMap project previously\u00a0saved in Exercises 1 and 2<\/li>\n
    2. Zoom to the extent of the island\u00a0with geo-referenced image<\/li>\n
    3. Turn on the layers FijiGaz, FJI_roads, Islands1.tif and FJI_adm0<\/li>\n
    4. Right-click on the FijiGaz layer<\/li>\n
    5. Select Properties, Click on\u00a0Labels<\/li>\n
    6. Tick the Label features in layer\u00a0box<\/li>\n
    7. Set the Label field to NAME; Set\u00a0Text size to 12<\/li>\n
    8. Click OK<\/li>\n
    9. Label the features of FJI_roads\u00a0similarly using its F_CODE_DES field<\/li>\n
    10. Select the Layout View from the\u00a0View Menu<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n
