Campus Experience

This course provides students with the opportunity to be in a tertiary environment, and to develop or extend their skills in interest areas. Campus Experience is designed for people who have intellectual disabilities and higher support needs.

The course enables students to participate in food preparation and cookery, and aims to:

  • Provide students with the opportunity to become involved in the life of Unitec
  • Provide experiences, which will encourage students to make choices in their lives
  • Encourage students to participate in experiences and practice skills that will enhance their lives

Students are usually accompanied by a support person to maximise the learning experience.

Literacy and Learning

This is a vocational and educational course, which helps students extend their skills in areas relevant to work. This course is designed for adults with a learning difficulty or an intellectual disability who wish to study on a part-time basis to extend their work related skills.

The course aims to:

  • Assist students in developing a pathway to employment or further training
  • Provide opportunities for students to attend a tertiary educational institution
  • Increase students’ work related skills, self-awareness, writing, computer and communication skills
