Passionate about music? Want to turn your love of contemporary music into a career? Improve your knowledge of musical techniques and composition, and gain an understanding of the business side of the music industry.

Are you passionate about music? Have you been involved with music for a long time and want to turn your love of contemporary music into a career? Perhaps you’re a school leaver with a high level of musical ability, a working musician or sound artist who wants to formalise their musical education, or a music teacher who wants to update their expertise. The Diploma in Contemporary Music develops your musical and professional strengths, including collaborative performance, creative and cross-disciplinary skills, music fundamentals and techniques, technology-based and music industry skills.

Highlights

• A mix of music labs in a dedicated Mac laboratory, group rehearsal tutorials and taught classes at a convenient, state-of-the-art venue in Waitakere City.
• Working on band or ensemble performances, composing new music and learning about music production together with your fellow students.
• Emphasis on developing a broad, genre-inclusive understanding of contemporary performance and recording, and an understanding of the contexts of music and culture in Aotearoa New Zealand.
