Are you a Medical Radiation Technologist and want to specialise in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)? If you successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (specialising in Magnetic Resonance Imaging) you can apply for registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board. There are three compulsory courses: Physical Principles of MRI, Clinical Applications of MRI, and Specialist Imaging Anatomy and Pathology, and the strongly recommended Professional Practice course.
Highlights
- Approved by the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) for registration in the MRI Scope of Practice in New Zealand.
- As a student on this programme, you need to complete approximately two years of full-time equivalent clinical experience in MRI to fulfill the clinical competency requirements.
- You need to have a clinical placement in a magnetic resonance imaging department throughout the duration of your course of study. A clinical assessment process is also included in the programme.
- Offered as a distance education programme, and combines online teaching, clinical experience, and block courses held at Unitec.
- Cross-credits towards the Master of Health Science.
