Further information
Unitec offers four assessed short courses that reflect the individual skills needed in the diverse roles and positions in the international education industry.
The courses are designed to develop leadership in administering international student programmes (such as English as a second language courses, or programmes for students from overseas in any education sector).
The four courses can be studied as individual short courses, or together as the National Certificate in Business Administration. The courses were developed in cooperation with Education New Zealand.
Pastoral Care in International Education
Managing student welfare and providing visitor support using communication that is effective in a culturally diverse setting. Read course information for more details.
Services for International Education
Providing administrative services that include performance management planning, and evaluating these in a report. Read course information for more details.
Meeting Change and Challenges in International Education
Applying key ideas of change management and problem-solving, and summarising these as a desktop publication. Read course information for more details.
Marketing International Education
Strategically pursuing and managing marketing opportunities using various methods, including the use of a business presentation. Read course information for more details.
Each course involves one day (8.30am-5.30pm) of face-to-face teaching in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch (dependent on highest number of enrolments), and 10 weeks of self-directed study.
Self-directed study materials will be posted to students at the start of each course. Each week will involve up to 10 hours of study, however as students are fully engaged in working in international education, there will be a good deal of overlap between the focus of study and their day-to-day work.
People wanting to enrol in these short courses should have at least one year’s experience in international education.
