WHAT IS A PROGRAMME?

A programme leads to a qualification such as a degree, diploma or certificate and usually consists of a number of courses. When you complete a course in the programme, the credits for that course count towards the total credits you require to complete the programme.

WHAT IS A COURSE?

A course is a module of study within a programme and is usually taken over one semester. In this time you may be required to attend lectures and tutorials, complete assignments and sit exams. In some programmes all courses are compulsory, while in others there may be elective courses.
NOTE: In some programmes you will be required to choose between certain electives - contact Student Central for details.

WHAT IS AN ELECTIVE?

An elective is a course that is not essential to complete the programme you are enrolled in. You usually take electives in addition to the compulsory courses you need to finish your programme. Not all programmes have electives. In some programmes you will be required to choose between certain electives – contact Student Central for details.
