Aim: 
The purpose of this course is to enable the student to understand the fundamentals of project management, pricing, tendering and quoting, and gain an understanding of self-employment in a small-to-medium enterprise (SMEs) in the residential building industry.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Restriction: APPT5011. Pre-requisite: APPT5110.
Topics include: 

Project Management The Tendering process for projects, developing project phases, project team roles and responsibilities, stakeholders, sub-trades,
preplanning and the breakdown of work structures, communication, materials and delivery timelines, managing time, costs using the 5 column take off method, labour resources and milestones,
progress payments and retentions, problem identification, managing solutions and an introduction to Microsoft project management software
Self-Employment
Fundamentals of small business structures, roles and functions of support agents, management skills and insurances
