CMC Limited and Unitec launch two vocational education programs in India

CMC Limited and Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand today announced launch of two vocational education programs aimed at building highly skilled manpower for the Construction Industry and for meeting the demand of high end areas in the IT Industry. These programs would be initially offered at CMC Academy centres in Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune.

Aussie’s youngest Wallaby player donates appearance fee to Unitec’s marae

New Zealand rugby legend Glen Osborne, a presenter for Maori Television’s popular sports show ‘CODE’, travelled to Unitec’s Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae on Thursday May 16, to hand over a koha (donation) to the marae on behalf of Super 15 rugby sensation and the Wallaby’s youngest player, James O’Connor.

Youth Guarantee Scheme student success – Samantha Butler’s story

Samantha Butler started out as another 16 year old, unwilling to face the prospect of a further two years of high-school education at an all-girls school. In just two years she has radically changed her life, thanks to Unitec’s Youth Guarantee Scheme. Today Samantha is a successful Youth Guarantee Scheme Graduate, a second-year Bachelor of Sports (Management) student at Unitec, a START mentor, and now a Unitec Ambassador.

16 year old talented film-maker nominated for prestigious international film festival and recipient of the Unitec Study Award

Talented young 16 year old New Zealand film-maker Natasha Bishop, has won her first year’s study at Unitec via The Outlook for Someday film challenge and has been nominated for the prestigious Japan Wildlife Film Festival (JWFF), where it will compete with 42 other films made by the likes of the BBC, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) and other international broadcasting giants.

Team STAYhealth show lots of heart to reach Finals of Imagine Cup

Entering Microsoft’s Imagine Cup, the world’s premier student technology competition, is a gruelling undertaking. And this year saw two teams from Unitec reach the National Finals and vie to represent New Zealand at the Cup’s International finale in St Petersburg. One of those teams, STAYhealth, didn’t just develop a mobile application that allowed a Windows phone to check on a patient’s heart rate – there were moments when they thought they might need it themselves.
