Unitec IELTS Centre

The award-winning Unitec IELTS testing centre is located at the Mt Albert campus, just 10 minutes from the centre of Auckland city. It is easy to get to by car or bus, and there is plenty of parking available. All administration areas and test venues are within 5 minutes walk of the Student Central centre located in Building 170.

IELTS test dates

You should book well in advance to reserve your place in the test session that suits you. Test sessions may be fully booked much earlier than the final application date. The final date for application is two working days before the test date.

How to apply

Applications in Person

• Take your completed IELTS application form, your passport and two recent passport-sized photos (please check the guidelines) to:
  
  Language Studies Reception, Building 170, Mt Albert campus
  Entry 3, Carrington Road, Mt Albert
  Office hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm

• You will receive your test information letter (confirmation letter) at the time of your registration
• You will be sent your test results approximately two weeks after the test.

Note: We will not accept the passport number written on your application form without verification. You must bring your original passport on the test day. If you have any questions, please contact the Administrator, IELTS Centre on +64 9 815 3011.

Applications by Post

• Post your completed IELTS application form, a copy of your passport, two recent passport-sized photos (less than six months old) and your payment (cheques payable to Unitec Institute of Technology) to:

• You will receive your test information letter (confirmation letter) by e-mail, please include an e-mail address on your application form
• You will be sent your test results approximately two weeks after the test.

Note: Please see the information regarding cancellations and postponement below. The IELTS Centre can not make exceptions due to visa or travel difficulties encountered by candidates. You must bring your original passport on the test day. If you have any questions, please contact the Administrator, IELTS Centre on +64 9 815 3011.

 

Application checklist

• Answer ALL questions
• Print all information fully and carefully
• Supply all necessary information e.g. passport number, date of birth, country code
• Bring your original passport and two recent passport-sized photos to enrol
• Original passport is required on the test day
• Plan carefully before giving your passport to immigration for visas
• Allow at least 4 weeks for processing of visas
• Tell Immigration the date you will need your passport back for the IELTS test (for example: a day or two before your test)

 

Payment for IELTS test

NZ$385.00 (including GST) please note the test fee may change without notice.

The Unitec cashier no longer accepts payment in cash. You may use EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, bank or personal cheques to pay for the test and other related IELTS fees. Details on payment options are given at the time of registration. Please make cheques payable to Unitec Institute of Technology.

 

On the day of your IELTS test

• Please allow most of the day from 11.30am - 7.30pm
• Go to registration first for your finger-scan and photograph
• Leave your valuables at home as bags may not be taken into the exam room
• The Listening/Reading/Writing test takes approximately 3 hours
• The Speaking test takes 11-14 minutes

Postponement

You may postpone your IELTS test if you contact us 5 weeks or more before your scheduled test date. There is an administration fee for postponement of $80.00. No postponement is allowed 5 weeks or less, prior to the test date.

Note: Please provide your receipt when postponing.

 

Cancellation

You may cancel your IELTS test and receive a refund if you contact us 5 weeks or more before your scheduled test date. There is an administration fee for cancellation of $80.00. No refund will be given for cancellation 5 weeks or less, prior to the test date.

Note: Please provide your receipt when cancelling. You will receive a cheque in the post 3-4 weeks after cancellation.

 

What if I am absent or sick on the test day?

If you are away on the test day with no prior notice, you will lose your full fee. However, in cases of serious illness, if you provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the administrative cost of $80.00.

 

Distribution of test results

Your IELTS results are usually available 13 days after the test. You may choose to collect the results from our office or it will be posted to your address. Please note you must contact us within four weeks of your test date if you have not received or collected your results. After this time lost results can not be replaced. Once released only one copy of your IELTS test report form (TRF) will be posted to your address or may be collected. Your Test Report Form is a valuable document and you should keep it safe and secure because it cannot be replaced.

An additional five (5) copies of your results can be sent free of charge to receiving institutions, if they are listed in the 'applications to recognising organisations' section (question 23, page 3) on the application form at the time you make your application. A receiving institution is a tertiary education institution, a professional body or a government department that have set IELTS as an entry requirement.

Any further copies or copies applied for after this time will incur a fee of NZ$20.00 each. Download the 'Duplicate IELTS test report application form' in the quick links to apply. International post and/or courier charges may also apply.

To request duplicate copies of your IELTS test report form (TRF), please download, print and complete the Duplicate IELTS test report application form and return the completed form to:

Forms are also available from reception in Building 170.

Once the IELTS Centre has received your form (and payment if applicable), your request will be processed within two working days and the results sent directly to the specified receiving institution/s.

 

Preview your test results online

You can preview your test results online 13 days after your test at https://results.ielts.org/. You will need to provide you name, passport number, date of birth and the date of your test.

Please note that online provisional results will not be considered formal advice of results.

 

Enquiries and re-marks of results

If for any reason you wish to query your test results, you may lodge your application at the reception in building 170, within four weeks of issue of results. You will be required to surrender your original copy of your test report form (TRF) with your application.

IELTS sample materials are specifically designed to help you prepare for your test.  You can purchase a pack from reception for NZ$50.00 (including GST).
