2. Apply for a place
New Zealand (domestic) students*
The fastest and easiest way is to apply online, and we recommend doing it early! You can log back in to myUnitec anytime to check the status of your application.
Please see our Frequently Asked Questions if you have any problems completing your online application.
NOTE: Online application isn't available for a small number of programmes, including some short courses. Where online application isn't available, New Zealand students should request an Application Pack, or download, print and return the Application/Enrolment Form for New Students.
*If you wish to be identified as a New Zealand Maori and need help identifying your iwi, please refer to the Standard Iwi Classification document (PDF).
You can now apply online and check the status of your application at any time.
Current or Returning Students
If you're an existing Unitec student or are returning to Unitec after some time away, you will need to re-enrol.
You can apply online for most short courses (if paying by credit card). If online application isn't available or you would prefer to pay in person by EFTPOS you will need to download and print an application form. Please refer to the web page for the short course you would like to apply for.
We will contact you by post or email to acknowledge that we have received your application form. Check your email spam folder if you haven’t heard from us. If you need to supply more details to progress your application, we'll let you know.
4. Additional admission requirements
Some programmes have additional admission requirements. For example, you may need to complete additional forms, be interviewed, have an audition, or present a portfolio of work. You will be notified of the details if this is applicable.
5. Offer of place
If your application is successful you will receive an offer of place. This might be conditional on you meeting specific requirements.
If you are offered a place you normally have 14 days to accept or decline.
Once you have accepted your place, your fees are payable. For short courses, fees are payable at the time of applying. For all other programmes, fees need to be paid seven days before you start.
You will either be sent an invoice in the post or you can access your invoice online by logging into the self-service portal, myUnitec.
We also offer a range of scholarships and study awards.
We welcome applications at any time of the year. If the programme that you are applying for has already started, or there are no places available, we'll provide you with the details of the next scheduled programme.
The policies relating to enrolment, withdrawals, variations to enrolment and refund of fees are covered in the Enrolment, Admissions and Fees Policy.
